Let’s talk about your morning routine. Do you take your health into consideration OR do you throw on clothes and rush out of the house? Are you happy with how the mornings go or is it stressful? Your mornings can set you and your family up for better health and less stress throughout the day.

First of all, your morning routine during the week might look different than the weekends. Hopefully, your weekends (or days off) allow you to slow down and sleep in.

Here are some tips to help you create your “optimal” routine and include some support for your body. You of course do not have to do all the things on the list, but try out a few and see which ones help you and your body the most.

Drinking Warm Lemon Water:

Drinking a cup of warm lemon water when you first wake can help flush your liver and move the bowels.

Working out:

This can definitely start your day out on the right foot and help you feel successful. Working out helps you boost your metabolism, move your lymph, and increase your endorphins. Some studies show that working out in a fasted state can burn more calories too! In addition, you finish your workout instead of waiting until later in the day and helps you be in a positive mindset throughout the day.

Dry Brushing:

Dry brushing helps detoxify by increasing blood circulation and promoting lymph flow/drainage. Dry brushing unclogs pores in the exfoliation process and stimulates your nervous system, which can make you feel invigorated afterward. Dry brush before your morning shower, it just takes a few minutes

Supplements:

There are supplements such as B vitamins, multivitamins, adaptogenic herbs and vitamin D that are best taken earlier in the day to help give you energy throughout the day.  Living in such a busy world, taking vitamins and minerals can be very beneficial to help make it through hectic days.

Do the “hard” stuff the night before:

– Lay out your clothes the night before. (Did you know that Steve Jobs wore the same clothes every week to decrease stress in the morning?)
 – Make your meal(s) with healthy snacks the night before. Even better, meal prep on the weekends. That way everything is ready to go in the morning.
– Keep your keys and phone in the same spot so they are ready to grab.

Consider Intermittent Fasting:

Are mornings so crazy that even eating breakfast can be stressful? Consider Intermittent Fasting. Try and go 14- 16 hours with out eating (just water, tea or coffee). It can help with weight loss, energy and brain health. Start the night before after dinner and keep fasting until lunch.

Meditation:

Check out this free timer that has free meditations. There is even a free course to learn how to meditate. https://insighttimer.com  Meditation helps to calm the central nervous system to help keep your body healthy and relaxed throughout the day.

Journaling:

Taking the time to journal in the morning can set you up for success. It can help you sort out your dreams, goals, and help you focus on what is important. Same thing goes for visualization. Adding just 5 minutes of journaling or visualization can help make a more successful day.

Prayer:

This doesn’t have to be long. Just practice a little prayer of gratitude and you will feel less stressed. God, higher power, spirit or whatever you believe in. Remember, mind, body and spirit are so important especially this time of year when things are busy.

Clarity of Purpose:

What would get you to jump out of bed in the mornings? What “lights” you up? Find your passion even if it isn’t happening full-time…this can help with your happiness.

Affirmations:

Affirmations can be a great start to your day. Check out the page with affirmations of all types. https://www.louisehay.com/affirmations/

I hope these ideas help your morning routine and help supercharge your mornings in 2019!
