Throughout my years as a healthcare practitioner, I have noticed a lot of people, if not most people struggle with loving themselves and taking care of themselves. This might be because we have childhood emotions that we haven’t dealt with or maybe you prioritize your family members before yourself? You do not have to figure out all your repressed emotions or stop taking care of your kids, but starting to take care of yourself and finding balance in life is an essential step to the healing process.  You can’t give if your cup is empty; it is essential that you take time to replenish yourself and to heal. Self-care is so important to everyone’s health.

Caring for yourself and making your body feel great is necessary. It’s a way to connect and to fall back in love with yourself. Here are three quick and easy ways that you can show your body some love every morning.

Helpful Tips for Self-Care

Oil Pulling – This ancient Ayurvedic technique works wonders for your overall oral health. Oil pulling is the act of swishing oil (usually sesame or coconut) between your teeth for 5 – 20 minutes. It’s best to do it on an empty stomach in the morning, before brushing your teeth. The oil works to pull the toxins from your mouth – so not only will you notice cleaner, whiter teeth, but also healthier gums, fresh breath, and even reduced sinus inflammation. Try a couple times a week, it works wonders!

Dry Brushing – The largest organ in our body is our skin! Why not help it detoxify, release dead cells, and increase circulation by dry brushing? Before you get in the shower a few mornings a week, use an Ayurvedic dry brush to gently rejuvenate and awaken your skin. It will leave you feeling refreshed and cleansed. Plus, it can help to build muscle tone, fight cellulite, and improve blood flow.

Tongue Scraping – We accumulate a lot of yucky toxins on our tongue. Don’t believe me? Go into the bathroom right now and stick your tongue out to see all the white gunk on the back. That’s not nourishing you one bit. Using a tongue scraper will help to clean up your mouth, get rid of bad breathe, and even prevent illness and infection. You can order a tongue scraper online or find at your local health store.

People report back all the time, what a difference one or all of these simple tasks makes them feel so much better! 🙂 Try one today!
